what's a Studienkolleg?
Studienkolleg is a preparatory course for students who are not fulfill the conditions for direct admission to German universities.
At the stage of admission to the Studienkolleg it is not necessary to choose the exact specialty, it is sufficient to choose only the direction of the future specialty.
The Studienkollegs offer the following tracks:
M-Kurs medical, biological, pharmaceutical direction
T-Kurs math, science (sometimes with the exception of biology and biochemistry), technical direction
W-Kurs economic, social and scientific direction
G-Kurs humanities, Germanic studies
S-Kurs linguistic direction

Who is eligible to attend a Studienkolleg?
Applicants who hold a high school diploma in their home country that does not grant direct admission to a bachelor's degree program.
For certificates from some countries, an additional year of university study in your home country is required. The field of study must match the field of study at the Studienkolleg. However, the major can differ from the one you plan to pursue at the university later.
Applicants with a secondary vocational diploma, a year of university study in their home country and proof of B2/B1 language proficiency can also apply to the Studienkolleg.
how do I enroll in a Studienkolleg?
The first step is to decide on the field of study (see above) and select the Studienkolleg providing training in this field.
Check the Studienkolleg website for the required application package and deadlines.

Prepare all necessary documents and send the application directly to the Studienkolleg, the university to which the Studienkolleg belongs or via uni-assist, depending on the requirements.
Once you receive the exam invitation, you can obtain an applicant's visa from the nearest consulate.
The final stage of enrollment is entrance exam. The subjects in the examinations depend on the school and the course of study, but all applicants must pass German.
We advise you to take the entrance exams responsibly. Although some Studienkollegs only require a B1 German language level, the entrance test is designed to ensure that you have a good command of the language. In addition, due to the high level of competition, you must achieve a high score in order to get a study place.
Entrance exam results are sent by paper mail and/or posted online in 3-10 business days.

where can I continue my studies after graduating from a Studienkolleg?
Graduates of all courses can enter the Fachhochschule Universities of Applied Sciences, graduates of the M-, T-, W-, G-, S-Kurs They can apply to all universities.
In many sources there is information about the strict attachment of the Studienkolleg to a certain university or federal state. That's a big misconception. Upon completion of their studies at the Studienkolleg, students take the Feststellungsprüfung exam (FSP), which allows them to enter universities throughout Germany.
