expulsion

Reasons why you will be expelled from a German university:

  • Successful completion of final exam and thesis.
What does that mean?

You can leave the university on your own, or you can be expelled (Exmatrikulation von Amts wegen). It is the second option that comes into effect after you have passed your final exam and thesis. This usually takes place during the semester, so you should take care of some things in advance:

- Student dormitory

- Health insurance

- Labor relations as Werkstudent

- Residence permit

- Sometimes a semester ticket

  • Non-payment of semester fee.
  • Failure to provide required documents (e.g., failure to pay for health insurance).
  • 3 failed attempts to pass one subject.
  • Failure to fulfill the specific requirements according to the Prüfungsordnung examination regulations.
  • Retrying to cheat on an exam.
  • Falsification of documents upon admission (with subsequent initiation of legal proceedings).
  • Criminal Behavior.

Most of these reasons preclude the possibility of studying the same field in all universities in the country.

What won't you be expelled for?

  • Exceeding the scheduled educational period Regelstudienzeit.
  • Social media content, personal opinion (if not committing an offense).
