expulsion

Reasons why you will be expelled from a German university:

  • Successful completion of final exam and thesis.
What does that mean?

You can leave the university on your own, or you can be expelled (Exmatrikulation von Amts wegen). It is the second option that comes into effect after you have passed your final exam and thesis. This usually takes place during the semester, so you should take care of some things in advance:

- Student dormitory

- Health insurance

- Labor relations as Werkstudent

- Residence permit

- Sometimes a semester ticket

  • Non-payment of semester fee.
  • Failure to provide required documents (e.g., failure to pay for health insurance).
  • 3 failed attempts to pass one subject.
  • Failure to fulfill the specific requirements according to the Prüfungsordnung examination regulations.
  • Retrying to cheat on an exam.
  • Falsification of documents upon admission (with subsequent initiation of legal proceedings).
  • Criminal Behavior.

Most of these reasons preclude the possibility of studying the same field in all universities in the country.

What won't you be expelled for?

  • Exceeding the scheduled educational period Regelstudienzeit.
  • Social media content, personal opinion (if not committing an offense).

To the Stüdienkolleg without a certificate.

No B1 certificate?

Pandemic. What does it have to do with studying in Germany? Unfortunately, it is not without its consequences. There are applicants who have prepared for the B1 certificate exam. But alas... The exams in the regions of Russia were canceled or postponed, and for obvious reasons it was not possible to travel outside the Russian Federation to take them. If this is about you, then there is an opportunity to jump on the footsteps of the departing train!

You can apply to the Karlsruhe Stüdienkolleg Karlsruhe. Proof of language proficiency is accepted here:

  • Certificate of completion of a B1 course that has not yet been completed
  • OR language certificate B1

What does this mean? You have taken a B1 level course and you have a certificate from the language school which shows the number of hours of study. In this case you should include it in the application package.

Do not think that the language requirements in Karlsruhe are low. On the contrary, the exam is one of the most difficult and the competition is high. But if you are confident in your knowledge, don't waste time. The application deadline is January 15/July 15.

It turns out that the main obstacle, in the form of a lack of a certificate, has been overcome. What remains is to overcome the intricacies of the German bureaucracy and not to make any unfortunate blunders in the preparation of documents that will ruin your plans.

A student in his 30s?

Is it too late? Or is it never too late?

In Russia, we are used to students being yesterday's schoolchildren. But what about in Germany? According to statista.com, there are 82% students among the population aged 20 to 29, and 14% among people aged 30 to 39. This, you'll agree, is not insignificant. So why is this the case? The reasons why are.
getting a college degree is delayed, all sorts of things.

Some young people are just too infantile. They are not ashamed to admit it, by the way). Others need to create a financial cushion before studying. Others decide to change their profession or deepen their knowledge. Fourthly, they want to pursue higher education after receiving an Ausbildung.

Life in Germany is very conducive to being a long-term student. The student pass for public transportation is worth it. Apart from that:

For students under 30 years of age:

  • Health insurance costs only about 100 euros. It includes non-working wives/husbands (if they are not students themselves), children
  • Many discounts through special services, free or for a nominal fee Entrance to museums, theater tickets, etc.

For students over the age of 30:

  • Free preparatory courses at universities to refresh your knowledge.
  • There is no age restriction for scholarships.
  • Some campuses even have daycare centers.

Among other things, a student in Germany will not have to go hungry. Education itself is free, and many companies offer special jobs for students. It is easy to combine work and study schedules.

You should not be surprised if you suddenly meet gray-haired grandfathers among your classmates. Many pensioners go to university as free students. Usually they do not write exams. They go in order to be among young people and learn something new and interesting for themselves.

uni-assist

Uni-assist is a non-profit organization that processes documents of foreign applicants and forwards their applications to universities. It has been operating since 2003.

You can find out whether you need uni-assist on the websites of the selected institutions in the information for international applicants section. If you see that a university works through uni-assist, do not even try to send your application directly to the university. Your application will not be considered.

Although the organization is non-profit, the prices for its services are quite high. They claim that the fees correspond to the real costs of processing documents.

Fee amount:
75€ for the first university
35€ for each subsequent university / study area

If you have to reapply in the next semester, there are no benefits or discounts. The same 75€ for the first university and 35€ thereafter.

Payment for services is possible by bank transfer or Visa or MasterCard credit cards.

There are good things. It doesn't matter how many universities you have chosen. You only need to send one set of documents to uni-assist. Its composition will depend on the requirements of the selected institutions.

Most often it's:
- educational credentials;
- translations of educational documents;
- certificates proving language skills;
- biography in the form of a table without omission of time periods;
- a passport;
- uni-assist service receipt;
- in rare cases motivation letter, letter of recommendation, TestAS, GMAT and others

Important: all documents must be in the form of certified copies. Uni-assist will dispose of them after the deadline for each semester.

To summarize:
1) When applying through Uni-assist, you send one set of documents
2) it is necessary to study the requirements on the website of each university
3) processing of documents is chargeable
4) Do not send original documents under any circumstances

It will take a lot of time to prepare documents, especially translation and certification, so you need to start early.

We value your time and invite you to seek counseling in a timely manner.

European education

Breaking stereotypes, or why studying in Europe is cheaper than you think

Do you still consider studying in Europe a pleasure for the rich?

Now you might be surprised. There is a country where you can get a higher education without paying for it at all pennies a cent. This is Germany. University studies here are also free for foreigners.

It is not always necessary to know German. Almost every university has master's programs entirely in English. In some places you can also study for a bachelor's degree in English, but there is a huge competition.

Of course, costs can't be avoided either way:

  1. Semester fee of 100 - 300 euros per semester.

    All students pay it, but it is a conditional expense. The student card gives so many benefits and preferences that many people in Germany apply to university without intending to study there. Just for the sake of having a student card.
  2. Prove that you have money for the first year of living in Germany at the rate of 860€ per month (860*12=10.320€ per year).

    Yes, the money is big, but once you become a student you are entitled to work. A foreign student in Germany can work up to 20 hours a week. The salary for such a schedule is just about 900 euros a month.

    Now you know enough to realize that studying in Germany is no more expensive than in Russia. But the authority of this education is recognized all over the world.
