Coming from UniApply Germany

Do I need the SAT for admission to Germany?

The short answer is: most of the time no. In most public universities in Germany, the SAT is not a compulsory exam. But there are some programs where it is required:

  • Mechanical Engineering at Karlsruher Institut für Technologie (KIT)
  • Data Science at KU Eichstätt-Ingolstadt
  • Computer Science at Universität des Saarlandes
  • Data Science and AI at Universität Bayreuth

An alternative to the SAT is the TestAS. This is a standardized test for international students that is often accepted by German universities as an indicator of academic readiness.

Enrollment support

UniApply Germany helps to understand the requirements, select programs and prepare documents taking into account all nuances.

Where to study for an IT degree?

When people talk about «top universities», they usually think of rankings. But in Germany there is a university that is valued not for its position in the lists, but for the quality of training and graduates.

It's about the Hasso Plattner Institute (HPI), an elite IT institute based at the University of Potsdam, founded by SAP co-founder Hasso Plattner.

Bachelor's Degree: IT-Systems Engineering

  • modern infrastructure and high-tech laboratories
  • small groups and individualized approach
  • lots of practice and project work
  • strong community

Master's Degree: Computer Science and Digital Health

  • focus on research and own projects
  • the best indicator of support for students during their studies
  • good ratio of associate professors per student

HPI is not a mass university or a «conveyor belt of degrees». It is a place where they train IT specialists who are well known by recruiters and the industry - even without high-profile rankings.

  • A minimum of 2 letters of recommendation from STEM professionals
