
How much does it cost to get an education in Germany?
Studying at German universities is free of charge, also for foreign nationals. Students pay a small semester fee of 100-350€. The exception is TU München (details), TH Deggendorf, TH Ingolstadt, OTH Regensburg, OTH Amberg-Weiden (500€ per semester) and the universities of Baden-Württemberg. In addition to the semester fee in this state a fee of 1500€ per semester is charged. If you are in Germany under §24 AufenthG, you will be exempted from the fee. The exemption must be received every semester.
I have finished 11 grades. Can I go straight to university?
As a rule, no.
In order to be admitted to a German university, the admission requirements must be met (HZB). For applicants with a certificate obtained in Ukraine, the condition for admission is the completion of the first year at a university in Ukraine or any CIS country or a completed Stüdienkolleg.

What major can I apply to after my freshman year?
After the first year, you can enter the first semester of a German university in the same or a related field of study.
I'm graduating from college. Can I go to university?
No, a college degree is not recognized in Germany in the same way as a school or university degree. For direct admission to a university, you must have completed two university courses, for admission to a Stüdienkolleg you must have completed one course.
The exception is an associate baccalaureate degree earned beginning in 2021 (non-faculty). With this diploma, you can enroll in bachelor's degree programs in a related field.
(!) Certificates issued by the college: starting with admission for the winter semester 2023/24, these certificates are not recognized in the same way as those issued by schools.
I am in my second to fourth year of university. Can I continue my studies in Germany?
You can apply for the first semester of the university and take the courses according to the examination regulations (Prüfungsordnung) or you can apply directly for the higher semester (höheres Semester).
I have a bachelor's degree, can I go to school for another major?
Yes. With a bachelor's degree, you can enroll in an undergraduate program in any major or a graduate program in the same or a related major.
What level of language is required for admission?
For the Stüdienkolleg German at B2 level, for the university - C1.
Is it possible to study in English?
Yes. German universities offer a number of bachelor's programs in English and a large number of master's programs. Language requirements should be checked on the university websites.
Are there any preparatory courses at universities?
Some universities offer free advanced language courses with conditional admission to the university. When enrolling in such courses, students pay only the semester fee.
Also, upon enrolling in a program of study, students may attend courses (Vorkurs) before the beginning of the semester to review material and adapt to the system and pace.
